What do they teach children about Rape??

I just went through trends on Twitter and honestly, it really threw me off balance. Reading those tweets about girls being raped is really so disheartening. We might think we're not doing much just tweeting and posting against rape, but trust me, it's doing a lot to educate people. Mothers would talk to their sons, sisters talk to their brothers, friends talk to their friends. The mentality just has to change.
It reminds me of how I somehow got hold of my neighbor's phone during one of his whatsapp classes during this lockdown. He's ten years old and he's in Jss1. I was really intrigued when I found out their topic for that day was "RAPE". I sat beside my neighbor and joined the class cuz I was really curious to know what their teacher had to tell them. When he was done with the introduction, he got to the cause of rape and started listing with "wearing of indecent clothes" as his number one. He mentioned a few other things and I still didn't see where he mentioned "THE RAPIST" as a cause. I asked my neighbor to send a message telling his teacher how he felt "the rapist" should be first on the list giving reasons that even girls who dress decently still get raped and girls can dress indecently and still not get raped. He replied me on that same group chat with "Kids" in it and I quote, "you know when a lady goes out not properly dressed, men get alert in the inside (if you know what I mean)". At this point, I knew I wasn't dealing with a mature individual and there was no point continuing in error, not in front of the children.
I took it to his private chat, and he continued by telling me,"I have friends who only make love to their wives when they see them on a see through dress. Normally, if a man sees a woman half naked, he can't control himself". I had to let him know that no man who sees a girl dressed indecently and his first thought about it is to force himself on her is ever NORMAL. He shouldn't go to a group chat filled with 10 year old children to tell them that it's normal if they have the urge to force themselves on a woman if they see her half naked cuz it's not. Would they do that if she was dresses that way in a market? Besides there was once a time where cloths weren't invented.
Don't think because everyone is tweeting about it or posting it means they understand it. Get into a conversation with them and see what they really know and think. There might just be a hidden rapist in them that they don't even know about. Be the one to change that mentality.
To everyone out there who has ever been sexually asulted. You'd heal, with God you will. The Holy spirit was sent to be our comforter and he comforts us if we let him. If you think you would never heal cuz you tried time, new relationships and people e.t.c Try the holy spirit!
