How they nearly married me off😱👰

One particular evening during my Medcine posting, I and my colleagues were on call. I arrived at the hospital before them, so I just decided to sit down on a bench and wait till they arrive. 

While I was waiting, a woman approached the bench with her husband. I greeted them and moved to the end of the bench, giving them space to sit down🙂. I totally forgot I was putting on my ward coat. I was really tired, so I just bent my head. Sitting down there, I just had a feeling someone was looking at me. It was so creepy and I looked at the woman again and greeted her, she made no attempt to look away, she just continued staring🙁😟. I was scared, but I just covered myself with the blood of Jesus and continued waiting for my colleagues since they said they were close. After some time I heard, "shay you're a doctor"

I replied by saying, "no ma, I'm a medical student"

"how many more years do you have left" she asked 

"two more years ma, by God's grace" I replied 

"what state are you from" she asked again 

At this point, I was already getting uncomfortable. I told her what state I was from. I was already itching to get up. I was just waiting for the part where she'd tell me "take this calabash and break it when you get home". Then after some time she spoke again. 

"my son just finished his NYSC, he read a good course" 

(Ahhhhh.... E Don happen.... Are you thinking what I'm thinking) 

I just looked at her and smiled. I was already grabbing my note and getting ready to leave when she said, "can I have your number? I want to call you" 

"ahh don't worry ma, let me just have yours and call you instead" I replied 

She gave me her number and as I walked away, she kept gesturing that I should call her. 

I got into the ward that night, and all I could think of was how I'd narrate to my children how they're grandmother hooked me up with their father in front of accident and emergency. 

I never called her.
